Tasting Notes
Domaines Faiveley are one of Burgundy`s largest and arguably finest estates with many plots located in the finest sites of both the Cotes de Nuits and Cotes de Beaune. However just to the south in the Chalonnaise region they undoubtably hold court. This delicious red is made from Pinot Noir and displays fleshy cherry and blackcurrant flavours beautifully balanced with velvety smooth tannins and a hint of minerality.

Food
Ideal with cold meats, pates, chicken, grilled lamb and pork.

Region
This region includes the southern Burgundian vineyards of Givry, Mercurey, Rully and Montagny which are all close to the town of Chalon just 30 minutes south of Beaune in the heart of Burgundy. Very rural and unspoilt these vineyards are planted with Chardonnay & Aligote for whites and Pinot Noir for reds. The soils are a mix of limestone, schist and clay, and when combined with a warmer climate than Burgundies from further North the wines have a fuller, riper character. These excellent wines generally offer attractive early drinking, that are often a great taste of `Classic Red & White Burgundy` at a fraction of the price to their more illustrios and famous neighbours.

Producer
Since the Domaine was founded in 1825, the Faiveley family has dedicated the major part of its resources to buying vineyards on the best slopes. Today they are the largest owners of vineyards in Burgundy, with about 120 hectares. Their philosophy is that great wine comes from top quality fruit and therefore yields are limited and production controlled.
