Tasting Notes
This Languedoc Rosé is a delightful expression of fresh red summer fruits, which immediately transport you to the South of France. The wine is made protectively with fermentation taking place in steel to preserve the fresh aromas and flavours of Carignan. The result is a rosé with a soft pink colour with an intense bouquet of wild strawberry, redcurrant and raspberry along with lovely floral notes of lilac, violet and primrose. Fruity and fresh on the palate with accompanied by notes of garrigue, mint and pepper. A perfect summer wine, easy-drinking and very fresh.
Food
Drinks beautifully as an aperitif but also serves well with mediterranean dishes, salads and barbecues.
Region
The Pays d`Oc is a hot, dry, hilly region of contrasting soil types adjoining the Mediterranean coast. It is perfectly adapted to the cultivation of the vine, which by origin is a Mediterranean plant. The hills surrounding the city of Carcassonne are the source for this wine, where the limestone serves to keep the roots relatively cool, thus providing a freshness that is often missing in southern French wines.
Producer
Maison Maurel Vedeau was created from the partnership of two experienced viticulturists and winemakers, Stephane Vedeau and Alain Maurel. Now under the ownership of Bonfils, the winemaking expertise and skilled viticultural disipline is maintained from the winery and estate vineyards at La Baume. The range of varietal and generic Languedoc wines are immaculate; immediately flattering yet true to their terroir. They benefit from mature vineyards including Chardonnay and Merlot.
