Louis Roederer Brut Premier NV Champagne - Gift Box

The Champagne house of Roederer was established in the early nineteenth century, and is still family owned. Camille Roederer, who, widowed, took control in 1932 exemplifies the significance of women in Champagne production, guiding the troubled business through the years of economic depression, expanding Roederer's ownership of Grand Cru vineyards, and thereby ensuring the continued and future success of the house.
This Louis Roederer Brut Premier NV is 40% Pinot Noir, 40% Chardonnay and 20% Pinot Meunier, mainly from their own Premier and Grand Cru vineyards, and with a dosage of 11-12g/l. It is fermented in stainless steel vats, increasingly flavoured by Champagne houses to offset the incremental effect of climate change. The production also involves an element of oak ageing to avoid malolactic activity and therefore preserve the acidity and create complexity of flavours. Cristal is the more luxurious of Roederer Champagnes. Originally sweet it was made for Tsar Alexander of Russia in 1876. Omnly the very best Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes are used in the elaboration of this Champagne, which is presented in the distinctive clear bottle to show off its golden colour and so allowing speculative anticipation of the character qualities of this elegant, rich wine, before opening and tasting.
