Tasting Notes
Sauvignon Blanc is rare to find in the vineyards of England and Wales and at Woodchester Valley we are proud to be one of the few vineyards producing a single varietal, limited edition Sauvignon Blanc only made in special years. Made with grapes harvested from just 2,000 vines planted on our steepest vineyard field called Westrip at Stonehouse, the fruit benefits from the increased intensity of the sun on the precipitous slopes. Our Westrip vineyard has proved its potential to produce world class wines since its silver medal winning first release in 2017. This was followed by the 2018 vintage being awarded two ground breaking International Gold Medals in the IWSC (96 points) and Global Sauvignon Blanc Masters, and most recently our Master medal in the 2022 Global Sauvignon Blanc masters. A pioneering first for an English Sauvignon Blanc.

Food pairing
A superb food wine - try it with English asparagus, goats cheese, ceviche, creamy fish dishes, cold meats and salads or your favourite shellfish

Recently awarded the highest possible award in the 2022 Global Sauvignon Blanc Masters, a Master medal is awarded to those wines which are an ‘outstanding example of its type, showing impeccable winemaking’. This marks the 2021 Sauvignon Blanc out as one of the best in the world today – an amazing achievement for the small Cotswold vineyard!

Judge’s tasting notes from the Global Sauvignon Blanc Masters 2022:
“This is a perfect example of why we taste blind - partly to leave any preconceptions behind us, and partly for the absolute joy of surprise when something unexpected turns out to be wonderful. And this wine was, indeed, wonderful. It starts with an intense gooseberry nose, building to reveal undertones of ripe lemon. On the palate there is bright, taut acidity and a juicy mouthfeel. Very well balanced, there's just a hint of sweetness on the finish, which is long and textured. A very engaging wine, perfect for matching with asparagus or goat's cheese.”
