Château Méaume 2019 'Reserve du Château' is an exceptional wine for the money, the 2019 is arguably one of the best vintages of the last 10 years, Roald Dahl referred to this wine as "simply delicious".
It is important to note that we only produce a small quantity of this wine every year. At Château Meaume we have thirty-four hectares under vine, divided into twelve “selections” (areas). We harvest by selection and ferment the grapes for those selections in separate vats. This gives us better control over quality and the blending process.
The Réserve is chosen from the best selections (including an area of blue clay soil that is the same as Pomerol) and oldest vines (Cabernet Franc planted in 1957). After fermentation, the wine designated for Réserve is macerated in oak (which our classic Chateau Meaume is not) and is the last to be bottled for each vintage.
